About

Fabio Cuffaro, senior e-commerce PPC consultant

I’ve spent 23 years working in digital marketing, with paid advertising as my full-time focus since 2013. Today, I manage PPC campaigns for established e-commerce businesses and B2B companies that sell online, often alongside a traditional sales team.

My approach to advertising comes from more than working inside Google Ads or Meta Ads. Before becoming a PPC consultant, I spent a decade in sales, ran my own business, and built and operated websites that generated advertising revenue.

Those experiences shaped how I think about customers, websites, and what it takes to turn advertising into actual business results.

Learning how people buy

My career started in sales in 1993. I began selling furniture and eventually managed the store. From there, I moved into men’s clothing, car audio, and later high-end audio equipment, where individual systems could sell for $20,000 to $30,000.

In 2000, I started a coffee distribution business, which I operated for three years.

Working directly with customers taught me something that has stayed with me throughout my career: buying decisions aren’t always immediate or straightforward.

People compare options, ask questions, come back, and sometimes take weeks or months to make a decision. Price matters, but so do trust, timing, and the overall experience.

Those same behaviors exist online. The difference is that instead of speaking with customers face-to-face, you’re trying to understand their decisions through the data they leave behind.

Building websites before managing advertising

In 2003, I became interested in building websites and the opportunities the internet was creating. I took web design courses, learned HTML and CSS, and started developing my own projects.

In 2004, I launched my first website, a web directory that became popular and remained active for well over a decade. A year later, I created a webmaster forum that grew to thousands of members.

Over the following years, I developed additional websites and monetized them primarily through Google AdSense.

I handled nearly everything myself, including development, databases, hosting, and maintaining my own web server.

Running those websites gave me firsthand experience with attracting visitors, understanding their behavior, and generating revenue from online traffic.

It also taught me that getting someone to a website is only part of the equation. What happens after they arrive matters just as much.

How I got into PPC

My first experience with Google Ads, then called Google AdWords, came in 2007.

I was sharing an office with someone who wanted to start selling products online. I built his website and helped set up his advertising campaigns.

I enjoyed it almost immediately. The combination of advertising, technology, and analytics appealed to me, particularly the ability to measure how people responded to different campaigns.

In 2010, a friend asked me to manage their Google Ads account. I took on the work while continuing to operate my own websites.

By then, I had experience on both sides of online advertising: generating traffic and revenue as a website owner, and managing campaigns for businesses trying to acquire customers.

When Google introduced its Panda and Penguin search algorithm updates in 2011 and 2012, the landscape for independent website publishers began changing significantly.

I saw an opportunity to take my experience in a different direction. I earned my Google Ads certification, began offering PPC management professionally, and founded Inwurx in 2013.

My approach to paid advertising

A great deal has changed in paid advertising since I started. Campaign automation has become more sophisticated, targeting has evolved, and the way platforms measure and attribute conversions continues to change.

But some fundamentals remain the same.

Understanding how people buy, what influences their decisions, and how advertising contributes to revenue is still at the center of effective PPC management.

I pay particular attention to what happens beyond the advertising platforms.

Many e-commerce businesses sell through several channels, including their own websites, Amazon, Walmart, and other marketplaces. Advertising on Google or Meta can influence purchases that ultimately happen elsewhere, without those sales being attributed to the campaigns that helped generate the demand.

I look at how advertising activity relates to sales across those channels, not just the conversions reported inside an individual platform. Those relationships aren’t always easy to measure, and correlation alone doesn’t establish causation. But ignoring them can leave an incomplete picture of advertising performance and lead to poor budget decisions.

I’ve also learned that effective account management doesn’t mean making changes constantly.

Some situations require immediate action. Others require patience, careful observation, and allowing enough time for a strategy to produce meaningful results.

Ultimately, I judge advertising by its contribution to the business, not by clicks, impressions, or the platforms’ own recommendations.
